COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and a popular disc jockey were critically injured in a Learjet crash in South Carolina that killed four people, authorities said Saturday.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. The plane went off a runway and crashed on a nearby road, she said.
Hospital spokeswoman Beth Frits said Barker and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, were in critical condition at a burn center in Augusta, Ga., about 75 miles southwest of Columbia.
Two other passengers and two crew members died, said the National Transportation Safety Board. Their identities were not immediately available.
Barker and Goldstein, who perform together under the name TRVSDJ-AM, played a free concert in Columbia's college neighborhood Friday night.
"It's absolutely terrible and tragic," Columbia Mayor Bob Coble said.
A representative for Barker and DJ AM said she had no information about the crash.
After Blink 182, Barker went on to form the rock band (+44) _ pronounced "plus forty-four." He starred in the MTV reality series "Meet the Barkers" with former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, to whom he was married at the time. The show documented the former couple's lavish wedding and life. Goldstein at one time was engaged to celebrity Nicole Richie.

U.S. captures $187 million drug haul in submarine

Somebody just took a helluva loss... Its all part of the game!!

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (Reuters) - The U.S. coast guard captured a submarine-like vessel equipped with sophisticated navigation equipment and stuffed with seven tonnes of cocaine, Costa Rican authorities said on Tuesday.
In a difficult nighttime operation during the weekend, U.S. officials arrested four Colombian smugglers on board the 59-foot (18-meter) steel and fiberglass vessel in international waters before they could sink it.
"The boat was partially submerged but you can't call it amateurish. The drug traffickers are not amateurs," Jose Pastor, a spokesman for Costa Rica's public security ministry told Reuters.
Several makeshift submarines toting drugs have been captured recently on the high seas. In July, the Mexican special forces captured a similar submarine carrying 200 tightly wrapped packages of cocaine.
On Saturday, the U.S. Coast Guard sent a team of special agents on small boats to surprise the smugglers after a U.S. Navy airplane spotted the sub. When the traffickers realized the agents were on their deck they shifted the boat violently in an attempt to throw the officers into the sea.
After that failed, they complied with orders not to open hatches designed to sink the craft, said the Coast Guard.
"This was the most dangerous operation of my career," Todd Bagetis, the lieutenant in charge of the Coast Guard team, said in a statement.
Official photos showed the craft packed full of 37 bales of cocaine with a street value of $187 million.

The vessel was likely capable of traveling from South America to the U.S. coast without stopping for fuel or supplies, said the Coast Guard.
The U.S. ship that nabbed the traffickers was set to arrive to the Costa Rican port of Caldera on Wednesday with the drug boat in tow, Pastor said.

World's Most Extravagant Party in Dubai Will be Visible from Space: $25,000,000 Budget

World's Most Extravagant Party in Dubai Will be Visible from Space
Posted Sep 11th 2008 8:02AM by Jared Paul SternFiled under: Journeys, Events
Later this month, billionaire tycoon Sol Kerzner will launch his lavish new resort in Dubai with a $25 million party featuring a fireworks display so massive it will be visible from space. The event, for the grand opening of the $1.5 billion Atlantis, The Palm, will have 2,000 guests and last four days capped by a performance by Kylie Minogue (her first in the Middle East), and is being billed as the world's most extravagant party, the London Telegraph reports.

The 1,500 room resort, located on the world's largest manmade island, the Palm Jumeirah, covers several square miles, features 16 restaurants including a branch of Nobu, and is partially bankrolled by the Dubai Royal Family. The fireworks display is being put on by the same pyrotechnics experts who produce the Olympics opening ceremony; however the Atlantis display will be ten times larger than the one in Beijing, making it visible from space.

BMF Founders Sentenced to 30 Years In Prison

We all know the Federales aint playin... They took a whole generation of young black males from my family (7 of my cousins sentences ranging between 10 & 24 years) with the CCE (Continuing Criminal Enteprise) and federal sentencing guidelines... Once you're on their radar they will not stop until the got u & dont forget that they have a 98% conviction rate... Big Meech & BMF definitely had a serious run, I gotta tip my hat to anybody out here that come from nothing and end up ballin out of control... When it was all said and done him & his brother (Southwest T) kept their mouths shut, didnt tell them peoplez shit and took their time like true soldiers!!! Gotta respect it...
Keep ya headz up homies!! At least you got numbers instead of letters!!!

Details below courtesy of Allhiphop.com:

Brothers Demetrius “Big Meech” and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory were sentenced yesterday (September 12) to 30 years in prison, for running the cocaine organization known as The Black Mafia Family.

Demetrius and Terry were apprehended in 2005 and indicted under the CCE (Continuing Criminal Enterprise) law, which like RICO charges carry life sentences.

Under the federal prison system, there is no parole option.

Seeking to avoid spending the rest of their natural lives in prison, the brothers pleaded guilty in November 2007 to the CCE charges and laundering drug money in hopes of serving the minimum 20 year sentence.

However, evidence presented by prosecutors resulted in 30 year sentences for both men. BMF was founded by the brothers in Detroit during the late 1980s.

After quickly securing valuable contacts with international coke suppliers, the organization grew to a nationwide criminal conspiracy within a few years.

The group began to draw unwanted attention from federal agents in 2003 once they established a high-profile operation in Atlanta, where they erected billboards, held lavish parties, created DVDs, and boasted of their connections with rappers Young Jeezy and Fabolous.

Also notable in the organization’s downfall was Meech’s involvement in a brazen 2003 shootout in the Buckhead nightclub section of Atlanta that left two men dead, including Sean “Diddy” Combs’ bodyguard Anthony “Wolf” Jones.

In 2005, agents raided several key BMF operations in Georgia, Michigan, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, and California.

To date, those raids have resulted in over 150 indictments of BMF members or associates, effectively dismantling the drug empire.

According to authorities, these convictions of BMF’s top members end a 15 year investigation into the Black Mafia Family’s criminal enterprise.

At their peak, Demetrius (age 40) and Terry (age 38) Flenory are estimated to have controlled a cocaine empire worth $270 million.

Gucci Mane Jammed up for a Year....

Them peoples aint playin as usual... One of my personal favorite & realest rappers in the game just got stepped back for a year for violatin his probation... The homie pissed dirty (greenery, E & liquor) at a recent probation hearing... I'm personally mad about this one cuz I just worked out a collab with him & Holadizza... Guess I gotta get at the homie Jeezy instead!!

Details below:
ATLANTA (MyFOX Atlanta) -- Rapper Gucci Mane appeared in court Friday for a probation violation hearing. Authorities said he did not fulfill his required community service.Radric Davis, aka Gucci Mane, was convicted in 2005 of assault and recently arrested in Henry County for driving under the influence. His appearance in court Friday involved his 2005 conviction and not his DUI. Probation officials said that Davis appeared at a probation meeting and tested positive for ecstasy, marijuana, and alcohol. The terms of his probation were to serve 600 hours of community service, which is 50 hours a month. However, officials said he has only served a total of 25 hours in the past three years. Therefore, the judge revoked one year of his probation and ordered him back to jail. The judge said after Davis serves the one year in prison that he still has 2.5 years of probation and has to serve the 600 hours of community service.

DISTRICT COURT
Former Club Owner Sentenced in Scam
Man to Pay Millions for Mortgage Fraud

By Jerry Markon
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, September 6, 2008

The former owner of a group of Washington area nightclubs and restaurants was sentenced yesterday to nearly six years in prison for orchestrating a mortgage fraud scheme that investigators said was one of the largest ever prosecuted in Northern Virginia.

John A. Tsiaoushis was also ordered to pay nearly $4 million in restitution for the real estate scam, in which he used false documents to repeatedly sell or refinance two houses in Vienna and the Fort Hunt area of Fairfax County, pocketing more than $3.8 million.

Tsiaoushis, 41, formerly owned the now-defunct Shark Club nightclubs in Centreville, Merrifield and Bethesda; the Acropolis and Cloud restaurants in the District; and the short-lived Chics n Wings restaurant in Tysons Corner. Tsiaoushis filed for bankruptcy in October 2005 and pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Alexandria in May.

His attorney, Blair Howard, said Tsiaoushis apologized to his family at yesterday's hearing, at which U.S. District Judge Liam O'Grady sentenced him to 70 months in prison. "He was very emotional. He said he was very ashamed and embarrassed by his actions," Howard said.

Howard said Tsiaoushis spiraled downward after he had trouble meeting expenses as his businesses expanded. "He made some very poor choices with some short-term, high-interest loans and got heavily into debt, and that pushed him into a world of drug and alcohol abuse," Howard said. "It's a very unfortunate situation."

Prosecutors had sought a sentence of up to 108 months in prison. "The defendant committed serious crimes," Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas H. McQuillan and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Dennis J. Early wrote in a sentencing memorandum. "He caused millions of dollars in losses" to lending institutions.

The sentencing came as federal and state investigators continue to examine an upsurge in mortgage fraud nationwide triggered by the decline in the housing market. The Reston-based Mortgage Asset Research Institute recently reported that incidents of mortgage fraud jumped 42 percent during this year's first quarter compared with the same period last year.

Merle Sharick, the institute's vice president for national business development, said the Tsiaoushis case is one of the larger cases prosecuted nationally. "When the market is constricting, you have a lot of companies and individuals used to living certain lifestyles who are doing desperate things to generate money or income," he said.

Tsiaoushis pleaded guilty to mail fraud and false testimony charges. Court documents said much of the scam was centered on a 3,200-square-foot house on Pennycress Lane in Vienna. In 2005, documents show Tsiaoushis sold the house, created false documents purportedly from the mortgage company, opened a post office box and had the settlement company send checks totaling $586,000 to the "mortgage company's" post office box.

Tsiaoushis then deposited the checks.

Using the same scheme, Tsiaoushis sold another house, on Chadwick Avenue in the Fort Hunt area, to a friend for $937,500 even though the bankruptcy court had ordered him not to sell it, documents said. All of those involved in the phony transactions are thought to be friends or business associates of Tsiaoushis's, the documents said.

Rick Ross Gets Tricked

Hip-Hop Weekly once again gets it wrong; this time after relying on information provided by interviewer Sam Ferguson. After claiming he was conducting an interview for Don Diva Magazine, The Boss granted Ferguson an interview in which The Boss took him to his hood in Carol City where The Boss reflected on his early days of hustling and his current success. The story was later ran and titled by Hip-Hop Weekly as "The Man Behind the Admission" and contained questions with answers that where never asked while Rick Ross was present."

There is nothing to admit. I'm a made man with nothing to prove. I'mma 10millionaire" Ross later added, "niggas must really be broke to be going to these measures. I'm happy to help niggas sell they magazines but don't feel you can disrespect the set. Sam Ferguson is a liar, he's an informant, he's a rat, he's a Bitch. I hope he's offended; get at me in the streets nigga you know how we play. This sh*t about to get Deeper Than Rap." If Hip-Hop Weekly disputes this they should release the audio and play the world the so called "Admission". Which they won't do; it doesn't exist.
